Software-update: ffdshow 2004-10-12 alpha

Op Source Forge is een nieuwe officiële alphaversie van de DirectShow-filter ffdshow te vinden. De update is genummerd als 2004-10-12 alpha en is in de gebruikelijke versie beschikbaar, maar nu ook in een voor SSE- en SSE2-instructies geoptimaliseerde versie (zie opmerking onderaan). Met dit programma kunnen DivX-, XviD-, WMV-, MPEG1- en MPEG2-bestanden worden afgespeeld in verschillende mediaspelers. Ffdshow maakt gebruik van de libavcodec van het ffmpeg-project voor video-decompressie, de postprocessing-code van mplayer voor verbeterde visuele kwaliteit van low bitrate-bestanden en is gebaseerd op de originele DirectShow-filter van XviD. In deze release zou de bug waardoor de Explorer onder Windows XP crashed opgelost moeten zijn. De volledige release notes zien er als volgt uit:

• This build should fix Windows XP explorer crashes.
• Three editions are available: special for SSE and SSE2 capable CPUs and generic for all others. SSE a SSE2 build were compiled using Intel C++ Compiler 8.1, generic build was compiled with Microsoft VC6.
• Known bug: in SSE and SSE2 builds Avisynth image processing filter in ffdshow isn't working.
• Subtitles correction may not work correctly in all cases (but should not crash). These feature was ported from SubRip and if SubRip will give different resulf for a given subtitles, please send them to me.
