Speaking of the mouseball, lets explain how this thing works. The Boomslang uses a beam of light to track any movement on the wheels. It detects this at a very impressive 2000 dpi. A normal mouse is around 300 dpi while the M$ IntelliEye Mice are 1200 dpi. In addition to that, a normal mouse computes 1.5 MIPS (Millions of Instructions Per Second), while the Razer Boomslang computes 6 MIPS. Very impressive indeed.
Coolness aside, how does it stack up in your games? Does it really make a difference and is it 100 bucks worth? The answer, in general, is a resounding, "HELL YES IT DOES!" The mouse does have a learning curve, but once you master it look out. My frag count increased by, damn near, 50% in a matter of about 3 days. Speed is the essence of FPS games, and this rodent just oozes it. Be for-warned that the buttons and scroll wheel are EXTREMELY sensitive.
[...] To sum it up, this rodent kicks some serious ass. Once you get used to it, that is. If you don't give yourself a good 3 days to get used to the Boomslang, you might as well have flushed $100 bucks right down the crapper. Patience, grasshopper, is the key. Give the Boomslang 3 days of good use and, I believe, you will love it. Aside from the scroll wheel placement, I love this mouse and can't imagine going back to my plain old mouse. I would be willing to bet that you will feel the same way. If you are a gamer, slide on over to Best Buy, Software Etc. or RazerZone and pick one up. I am betting that you won't be sorry.
